Day 3 of the build!

Got the paint off the side panel today and cleaned up the flame pattern a bit with the Dremel

Started off with 100 grit paper for removal

heres a shot of the underlying primer from the first paint

Finished with the 100 grit rotary sander...

went around the extruded edge with a Dremel to get the hard to reach paint

Kept it around 3 for sanding

Done sanding with the Dremel, look closely

heres a closeup of the Dremel work

Finished the day off with 220 grit paper to smooth things out

Pretty much smooth except where the Dremel went

Closeup

Now with the panel sanded, I'm liking the look of the bare metal and am considering polishing it out and not painting it for a while...who knows.

Panel with the glass behind

Rough idea of what it would look like re-assembled

That's it for Day 3! Remember, follow the blog and check back frequently to check on my build! Thanks!

Day 2! Phew...

Picked up some silicone remover at Home Depot today...

After I used the gel to help remove the silicone with the help of a razor...a little cloudiness form citrus and a couple scratches form the razor but notihng noticeable.

A shot of me scraping the silicone and paint off for the first time since it was applied...don't remember why I painted the inside though...

And it's finally back to normal, for the most part...

Just a shot of the outer panel, still needs to be sanded, but thats for another day.

Well that's it for today...stay tuned for Day 3!

Side Panel Repaint - Day 1 - Plexiglass Removal

So finally I have decided to go ahead and start the repaint on my side panel. It has been a lot harder than I thought. Here are a few pics from tonights start.

The fan dismounted and the dust filter unscrewed.

The fan and filter removed.

The Plexiglass FINALLY removed after about an hours worth of carefully removing the silicon with a razor.

The Plexiglass alone and removed. Still needs to be cleaned and some stubborn silicon removed.

Well, that's it for tonight ill try and get some work done tomorrow and keep you guys updated.
Make sure to leave comments and keep checking back from time to time to see my progress!

About three years ago I built myself my first computer. More details can be found on my other blog: custombuiltpcs.blogspot.com
Anyways, here are some pics of the finished product (didn't take any while making it. I regret that.) and soon, I will strip the paint and think about a new color. So post your ideas and comments, I'd love to hear them!

Also, I'm open for all ideas and further customizations! Don't be shy!
